Denzel Washington As The Equalizer (Movie Trailer)

I remember my mother watching the original television show, when I was a child.  I think it stuck in my head because the star of the show was a badass, pale, older white man who was what may be called, now a "fixer", but I think he worked for free.  The show alluded to him being a former spy or soldier trying to make amends for past sins, similar to the show Burn Notice.  Denzel's version of The Equalizer seems to have less of a backstory than the original.

In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall's desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer. - Sony Pictures Entertainment

Today while wasting time on Youtube, like I am known to do from time to time, I stumbled across Debt Collectors.  It's a comedy web series about a fictional government agency that throws debtors in jail.  Thankfully debtors' prisons are a thing of the past so you can breathe easy.  In the first video the creator Christina Martin and cast discuss the genesis of the series.

Aisha Tyler started her own weekly podcast in July called Girl On Guy.  I love Aisha, but the podcast really didn't do too much for me in the first eleven weeks.  The guests weren't all that interesting and were all white men.  Nonetheless I kept my subscription to her RSS feed hoping to see someone eye catching cross my Google Reader.  Thankfully, ?uestlove of The Roots to the rescue!  The interview is incredible.  It's less comedy and more of a story of the origin of The Roots as well as some details about their upcoming album, Undun.  It's a long listen, but it's definitely worth it.
