Talib Kweli & Z-Trip - Attack The Block Mixtape

I don't know if anyone else had encoding/metadata problems with the files for this, but I did.  I had to download an encoder to fix this.  Apparently it's a Windows 7 issue, but both of these links are good to go.  Streaming available below as well.

Gummy Soul Presents Fela Soul (Fela Kuti + De La Soul)

“I came up with the concept for this project in fall of 2010. I wanted to follow through with it not only because it was a good idea, but because of the powerful impact both these artists have had on me and my music. Afrobeat, jazz, funk, and hip-hop are already so interconnected, and I always thought it would be exciting to work on a project that combined all of these elements together.”
“I hope this project will help to bridge the gap between hip-hop and afrobeat, and serve an introduction for hip-hop fans and music fans alike who are unfamiliar with Fela Kuti or De La Soul’s music.”
- Amerigo Gazaway of Gummy Soul

Excursions: Rarities & Remixes Of A Tribe Called Quest Mixtape

A Note From Mick Boogie
A Tribe Called Quest is one of my favorite groups of all time... in any genre of music. After seeing Michael Rapaport's amazing documentary on the group, I felt inspired to put together a mix and this is the end result. This is NOT a greatest hits mix. This mix is for the true Tribe fans only... the die-hards who know every lyric and remember every interlude. I thought it would be cool to basically create the "lost" Tribe album... with all the rare songs, demos, limited-edition remixes, and collaborations you may have missed over the years. I hope when you enjoy this as much as I do, and hear some things you have never heard before. Special thank you to UNDRCRWN for the amazing artwork.

A Dope Hip-Hop Documentary You Should See

Copyright Criminals, a documentary about digital samplings head-on collision with copyright law, features many of hip-hop musics celebrated figures—including Public Enemy, De La Soul, the Beastie Boys, and Digital Underground—as well as emerging artists from record labels Definitive Jux, Rhymesayers, Ninja Tune, and more. The documentary also provides an in-depth look at artists who have been sampled, such as former James Brown drummer Clyde Stubblefield, as well as commentary by another highly sampled musician, funk legend George Clinton.

The documentary will make it's television premier on PBS in January of 2010, but they have been having community screenings throughout the country during October & November. Sadly, Pittsburgh gets the shaft once again for the cool stuff. You can check to see if there will be a neighborhood screening near you:

De La Soul & Nike Are Back Together Again

De La Soul came together with Nike to celebrate 20th anniversary of 3 Feet High and Rising by releasing "Are You, In?" as in R.U.N. . . . get it? lol (Blogger's note: Why the hell is it only available on itunes? Some of us don't have ipods or use itunes!?!!? If someone out there has this, I would be eternally grateful if I received an e-mail containing new music (hint, hint).

This isn't the first time the 2 giants came together. A Few years ago Nike & De La Soul teamed up for the limited edition Nike Dunk SB High De La Soul.

Hoping for an e-mail of De La Soul,
