Make Phone Calls With Gmail
Calls to the U.S. and Canada will be free for at least the rest of the year and calls to other countries will be billed at our very low rates. We worked hard to make these rates really cheap (see comparison table) with calls to the U.K., France, Germany, China, Japan—and many more countries—for as little as $0.02 per minute.
Dialing a phone number works just like a normal phone. Just click “Call phone” at the top of your chat list and dial a number or enter a contact’s name.
Visit the Gmail Blog for more info on the new feature.

Random Geekery: Preview Of Dark Rain: A New Orleans Story
"Dark Rain has the twists of The Treasure Of the Sierra Madre, the political punch of When The Levees Broke and the character interplay of The Defiant Ones." – Reginald Hudlin, writer of Black Panther, director of Boomerang
From Mat Johnson, writer of the acclaimed INCOGNEGRO, comes a graphic novel thriller set in the days after Hurricane Katrina. Two small-time ex-cons with big dreams get the idea that this would be the perfect time to rob a bank. Catch is, the bank is in New Orleans, and they're on parole in Houston. Now, as every sane person tries to get out of The Big Easy, Emmit and Dabny will do whatever it takes to get in.
As they journey through a tide of human suffering, Dabny wants to help, and Emmit sees only the money. But a rogue commander of the ruthless security force "Dark Rain" has his sights set on taking down the same bank. If Emmit and Dabny don't outrace him, their last hope for a second chance could be washed away in the floodwaters – along with their lives.
The book is already on stands and in stores, but you can always cop, Dark Rain: A New Orleans Story here if you are interested.

Twitter: The Movie! - The Twit Network
If Hollywood can make an overly dramatic film about the early years of Facebook, why can't we make an overly dramatic movie about Twitter? Or at least the trailer to that movie!

Colin Munroe - I Would Die 4 U
Colin's been pretty silent lately. Picking a Prince cover is an interesting way to break said silence. What do you think?
Dear Friends & Family:
I've been gone for a little while, but I'm still here. There were some things that needed dealing with and that dealing is almost done. I was intentionally not releasing any new solo material during that period, but that period is about to end. The story continues and so will the music. I hope you enjoy this small taste of what is to come. Don't look away. Don't think less of me.

NBA 2K11 Trailer Starring Michael Jordan & Friends
I'm pretty sure that I spotted Clyde Drexler, Joe Dumars, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins, Patrick Ewing & Shawn Kemp. Oh, yeah . . . they made sure to get LeBron in his new uniform and John Wall doing his dance.
Seeing Michael do the fake dunk/layup was sweet, but I lost it watching Nique break out the windmill. Those images took me back so far that I almost thought I had algebra homework due tomorrow.

Kanye West + Twitter + Nerds = #kanyenewyorkertweets
By now I'm sure you have heard that Kanye West has joined Twitter. I must say that he may be the person that twitter was made for. I've always thought that Twitter is less of a social networking site and more of a site for egomaniacs. I'm not saying that everyone on the site is an egomaniac, but it seems like a majority of the users are more focused on talking randomly to no one in particular or exclusively to people that they already knew outside of twitter. I just went off on a tangent there, sorry about that. Anyway, since joining, Kanye has been pretty consistent in giving us 140 characters worth laughs through his pronouncements of his presence at random places or when he is making nonsensical demands. Frankly, I like Kanye's music but hate his personality so 140 characters of him at a time is the perfect amount for me.
Some of his followers have decided to do a bit of a mash up of his tweets with cartoons from the New Yorker. His tweets as captions definitely put the comics in a different perspective.
If you're on Twitter and are as easily entertained as I am, you should follow #kanyenewyorkertweets.

Footage From Marco Polo's Album Release Party In Toronto
Some footage from Marco Polo's "Stupendous Adventures of Marco Polo" release party, at which fellow Toronto producers Frank Dukes, Rich Kidd, and MoSS, as well as Marco himself, were asked to flip some well-known samples. Frank Dukes tackles Seals & Croft's "Summer Breeze", Marco works with Al Be Sure's "Night and Day", MoSS manages to make The Bee Gees "Stayin' Alive" sound gully (no joke), and Rich Kidd gives Melanie Fiona's "It Kills Me" his own personal twist.
